2010 Summer Program

Welcome to our 2010 bilingual summer program! This is our 9th year of running this exciting program. Students will have a lot of fun learning the Chinese language and culture through youth-attractive activities such as arts and crafts, games, stories, music, drama, dance, and magic shows. In addition, students will be challenged in science, history, reading, writing, and math. Buildings are air conditioned. Hot lunches are provided. Party or field trip every week! Registration is taking place now.

* Please note that the information below is primarily for local students. We also offer special sessions for students from overseas, such as Taiwan or China, but information for those special sessions is not included here. Please call 206-380-1222 for details.

  1. Age Range -

    Different classes for children aged 2.5 - 15.

  2. Tuition -

    Our summer camp is held Monday through Friday. You can choose any number or any combination of weeks to attend. Hot lunch is available. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided.

    Weekly tuition:
    Full day (Seattle 8 am - 6 pm. Bellevue 8:30 am - 6:30 pm): $195
    Morning (Seattle 8 am - 1 pm. Bellevue 8:30 am - 1:30 pm): $135
    Afternoon (Seattle 1 - 6 pm. Bellevue 1:30 - 6:30 pm): $115
    Pre-registered daily tuition (for students not attending the full week):
    Full day: $48
    Morning: $35
    Afternoon: $30
    Drop-in daily tuition:
    Full day: $58
    Morning: $45
    Afternoon: $40
    SPECIAL DISCOUNTS AND OTHER FEES:

    • 5% discount for additional children from the same family (applied to the lower tuition).
    • 10% discount is given for week-2 due to Independence Day (July 4th).
    • $25 non-refundable registration fee for each student. This fee is waived if registration is done at our open house.
    • When full tuition has been paid for 9 weeks, the 10th week will be free! The free week will be full-day if the student has been full-day for the entire 9 weeks; otherwise the free week will be half-day.
    • Tuition is 10% more for children below age 3.
    • Refund/credit policy: Tuition refund/credit is available if written notice is received by WIS at least one week before the weekly session starts. No refunds or credits will be issued if WIS does not receive this one-week notice. Refund checks will be mailed by Sept.10, 2010. A $25 processing fee will be charged for each refund. No processing fee will be charged for credit requests, but the credit must be used within the 2010 summer program. No refunds will be issued for unused tuition credit.

  3. The Dates and Weekly Theme: -

    Week-1: 6/28 - 7/2, Chinese music and children's songs
    Week-2: 7/6 - 7/9, Chinese children's games and related history (no school on 7/5)
    Week-3: 7/12 - 7/16, Chinese ethnic food and nutrition
    Week-4: 7/19 - 7/23, Chinese painting and history
    Week-5: 7/26 - 7/30. Chinese geography and related legends
    Week-6: 8/2 - 8/6, Chinese calligraphy and history
    Week-7: 8/9 - 8/13, Chinese crafts
    Week-8: 8/16 - 8/20, Student performance and magic show
    Week-9: 8/23 - 8/27, Chinese zodiac
    Week-10: 8/30 - 9/3, Chinese folktales

  4. Program and Daily Schedule: -

  5. Ages 6 to 15:
    Elementary school and middle school students will have a lot of fun learning Chinese culture and language through games, arts and crafts, songs, drama, cooking, magic show, and various other activities. Each week the students will have a few lessons in English Reading, Writing, and Math to keep these academic skills sharp. All courses are designed by our highly experienced instructors to be very enjoyable! Every weekly session has a special theme (see below). Each site has a playground and students will have outdoor play time every day. Field trip, party, or swimming every week! Your children will go to an animal farm, fruit farm, fire station, library, or other fun places! You will also be invited to your children's performance and a magic show!

    Morning:
    8:30 - 9:30 am: Drop-off time, teacher-supervised reading (Seattle site opens at 8 am)
    9:30 - 10:30 am: Lesson time
    10:30 - 11:00 am: Recess
    11:00 - 12:00 noon: Lesson time
    12:00 - 12:30 pm: Lunch
    12:30 - 1:30 pm: Pick-up time, teacher-supervised games (Seattle site morning program finishes at 1 pm)

    Afternoon:
    1:30 - 2:00 pm: Drop-off time, teacher-supervised reading (Seattle site afternoon program starts at 1 pm)
    2:00 - 3:00 pm: Lesson time
    3:00 - 4:00 pm: Recess and snacks
    4:00 - 5:00 pm: Lesson time
    5:00 - 6:30 pm: Pick-up time, teacher-supervised games (Seattle site closes at 6 pm)


    Ages 2.5 to 5:
    This is the best age to learn languages! Let your child's language abilities shine in our bilingual summer camp! Songs, rhymes, stories, games, reading and writing, crafts and much more. You will be amazed how much your child can learn in just one summer. You will be invited to your child's performance, plus a magic show!
    Morning:
    8:30 - 9:30 am: Drop-off time, teacher-supervised reading (Seattle site opens at 8 am)
    9:30 - 10:30 am: Verbal lesson and general knowledge
    10:30 - 11:30 am: Recess and snack
    11:30 - 12:15 noon: Hands-on projects
    12:15 - 12:45 pm: Lunch
    12:45 - 1:30 pm: Pick-up time, teacher-supervised games (Seattle site morning program finishes at 1 pm)

    Afternoon:
    1:30 - 2:30 pm: Drop-off or teacher-supervised rest time (Seattle site afternoon program starts at 1 pm)
    2:30 - 3:15 pm: Verbal lesson and general knowledge
    3:15 - 4:15 pm: Recess and snacks
    4:15 - 5:00 pm: Hands-on projects
    5:00 - 6:30 pm: Pick-up time, teacher-supervised games (Seattle site closes at 6 pm)

  6. Lunch and Snacks -

    • Hot nutritious lunch ordered from local restaurants
    • Lunch menu will be posted in school and can be emailed to parents upon request
    • Fruits or vegetables will be served every day
    • Free snacks

    Lunch price: $15 per week (tax included)

    Sample Lunch Menu:
    Monday: Hawaiian pizza and cheese pizza + watermelon
    Tuesday: Meatball pasta with mushroom sauce + baby carrots
    Wednesday: Broccoli beef + steamed rice + orange
    Thursday: Pork and cabbage pot stickers + apple
    Friday: Mushroom chicken + steamed rice + banana
    * Or you can bring your own lunch. Refrigerator and microwave are available.

  7. Open House -

    (A).Seattle location:
    Saturday 1 - 3 pm, on 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 6/5, 6/12, and 6/19.

    (B).Bellevue location:
    Tuesday 5 - 7 pm, on 5/4, 5/11, 5/18, 6/8, and 6/15.

    It is very important to print the directions from www.washingtoninternationalschool.com/locations and take it with you when coming to our open house. Staff are very busy during open house hours and won't be able to offer directions by phone.

  8. Registration -

    Space is limited and on a first come, first serve basis. Please download the registration form at our website www.washingtoninternationalschool.com/registration.php and mail it in today!. You can call 206-380-1222 to request the registration form if you have trouble to download it. Mail the registration form along with a check for tuition and $25 registration fee to
